Gale S.
Procedure: Gastric Sleeve
Total Weight Lost: 36
Surgery Date: 11/20/2024
As a former athlete and cheerleader, I couldn’t believe how difficult it had become to do simple things like walk up and down stairs. My knees were in constant pain, and I knew I wasn’t prepared to spend my retirement years living that way. High blood pressure and high cholesterol were my main health challenges.
I began considering weight loss surgery about two years before my first consultation. One evening, I had dinner with a good friend and commented on how well she had done losing weight. She was the first person to encourage me to consider the gastric sleeve. In February 2022, I began the research stage.
Oh my goodness, I can’t fully explain how comfortable the ASA team made me feel. I showed up with a long list of questions, and both I and my questions were welcomed and encouraged. Everyone—from the front desk staff to the surgeon—was incredibly responsive, always helping to ensure all my paperwork was complete.
The nutritionists offered practical, realistic advice and helped me stay in tune with what my body needed. They even helped me research options that worked specifically for ME.
Dr. Doucette was the icing on the cake—thorough, responsive to questions, clear in laying out expectations, and always available for consultations.
The aftercare support meetings helped me stay on track throughout the journey.
Would I recommend them? ABSOLUTELY, YES.
Wow… my cholesterol and A1C are now within the proper range, and my knee pain has significantly diminished. I’m back in the gym and routinely walking 3, 4, even 5 miles at a time.
While I had heard many people talk about hair loss after surgery, the nutritionists answered all my questions beforehand and helped me start a preventative supplement regimen. As a result, my hair is actually healthier now than it was before surgery.
I experienced ZERO complications after surgery. This was truly the best decision I’ve ever made.
