Johanna Key, MS, RD, LD

Johanna Key earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Food and Nutritional Sciences with an option in Dietetics from Tuskegee University. She went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Nutrition at Auburn University, where she completed numerous internships as part of the Auburn University Dietetic Internship (AUDI) program. Johanna’s education continues at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Community Health Promotion.

Johanna has always been interested in the ways food can impact the body, both positively and negatively. Her dedication to helping people adopt a healthier lifestyle extends far beyond her academic endeavors. In addition to her considerable internship experience in a range of nutrition and dietetic applications, Johanna has also contributed volunteer hours to helping cardiac patients, children, and underserved members of the community adapt healthy eating habits.

As a Bariatric Dietitian at Alabama Surgical Associates, Johanna provides medical nutrition therapy, conducts nutrition assessments, and works one-on-one with our patients to help them adopt a healthy relationship with food as they pursue their weight loss goals.
