Before surgery, I had no desire to exercise in any way, and when I would get a wild hair and decide to do something, I’d get frustrated if I didn’t see results quickly. My biggest frustration was having to continue to buy larger sizes of clothes because I just kept gaining weight. I did have sleep
apnea and had to use a CPAP before surgery. I also had high cholesterol.
I had toyed with the idea of weight loss surgery for about five years. I kept putting it off. I felt like it was the easy way out because I love food, and I didn’t think I could live in a world with so much restriction. I decided to finally go for the surgery mainly because I hated seeing myself in the mirror and was ready to be healthy for once. I also had a friend who had just had the surgery, and she was the reason I finally decided to live a healthier life via this tool.
I love Dr. Doucette. He always ensures that your questions are answered and doesn’t mince words about possible complications. The nurses and other staff in the office are always very kind and helpful. The dieticians are incredibly helpful with options to make things less boring.
My life today after surgery is better all the way around. The #1 thing I love doing now that I couldn’t do before is going to the gym and loving it! I also love crossing my legs, fitting into clothes I would never have worn before, and not getting out of breath when walking briskly at work. I did have sleep apnea before surgery, and it has resolved, so no more annoying CPAP for me!!
