I sought bariatric surgery to become more active. Before surgery, I weighed 318 lbs and had difficulty keeping up with my 3-year-old. Now, six months post-op, I lost 130lbs. More importantly, I can keep up with my kid. I also got into exercise and love what my new body can do. I run four days a week and am in training for my first half-marathon next month, and I hope to run a full one later this year. I average 80 miles per month of running right now. I also weight lift twice a week and love watching my strength improve. The surgery is a tool and requires on-going effort, but it is so much easier than traditional dieting, and the studies show much better longevity to success than with traditional dieting.
UPDATE: I ran a half marathon on April 25 in 1:52:35 seconds.
